Malware Awareness

Malware analysis begins with safe handling

Preserve context and avoid running suspicious files on working devices.

Do not experiment on a live device

Unknown files can cause harm when opened or executed. Do not upload sensitive samples to public analysis services without authorization. Seek a controlled handling process.

Preserve context

Record where a file was found, relevant times and observable symptoms. Preserve logs through an approved process; deleting files immediately can destroy evidence needed to understand the incident.

Separate indicators from conclusions

A filename or alert alone does not establish behavior or attribution. Authorized specialists use isolated environments and corroborating evidence, and report analysis limitations.
